✈️ Pre-order — expected 6 November. This fabric is on its way to us. Order now to reserve your yardage; we cut and ship pre-orders in the order they were placed, as soon as it lands.

Designed by independent studio Atelier 27, the Alessia print comes out of textile archives, and it shows — deep plum and burgundy roses, dusty pink and cream blooms and soft yellow chrysanthemums, packed densely with sage-green foliage across an ivory ground. It has the romance of an old furnishing chintz reduced to dress scale, which is what keeps it wearable rather than costume.

Carefully produced with attention to fiber and weave, this lightweight cotton satin offers a comfortable hand while retaining enough body for clean finishes. Its smooth texture and refined appearance make it suitable for both everyday garments and polished pieces. At 80 g/m² it is genuinely light — blouse and pajama weight rather than traditional shirting weight — and it takes a crisp press without turning stiff.

This is a Limited Edition design — produced in a single small run and never reprinted once sold out. When this fabric is gone, it is gone for good.

🪡 Sewing Tips

Pre-wash before cutting — Atelier 27 recommend washing all their fabric before sewing, and cotton will move on the first wash. Use a fine universal or microtex needle (70/10–80/12) with a shorter stitch length; at this weight a heavy needle leaves visible holes. The print is dense and reads as non-directional, so you can lay pieces either way and save yardage. French seams suit it, and the sateen surface presses beautifully — use a pressing cloth if your iron runs hot, as the floats can shine.

🧺 Care Instructions

Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, inside out. Always pre-wash before cutting.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

When will my order ship?

This is a pre-order. The fabric is expected to reach us by 6 November, and we cut and ship pre-orders in the order they were placed as soon as it arrives. If you order other items at the same time, the whole order ships together once the fabric is here — place a separate order if you need the rest sooner.

What can I sew with this fabric?

Blouses, shirts, soft pajamas and nightdresses, gathered skirts, children's clothing and small accessories. At 80 g/m² it is light and fluid — lovely for anything gathered or softly draped, but too fine for structured tailoring.

How much fabric do I need?

Fabric is sold by the half yard, cut in one continuous piece. A fitted top typically takes 2–3 half-yard units, a blouse or shirt 3–4, a skirt 3–4, and a midi dress 5–6 — order 4 units for 2 continuous yards.

Will it shrink?

Yes — it is 100% cotton, so expect some shrinkage on the first wash. Atelier 27 don't publish a percentage, so treat pre-washing before cutting as essential rather than optional, and wash the way you intend to wash the finished garment.

Is it see-through?

No — this cotton satin is opaque; unlined garments are fine.

What needle and thread should I use?

A fine universal or microtex needle (70/10–80/12) with all-purpose polyester or cotton thread, and a shorter stitch length; test on a scrap first.

Is it really limited edition?

Yes — Atelier 27 prints each design in a single small run and never reprints it. When our fabric sells out, this print is gone for good. We stock it here in the US, so there are no import shipping, tariff, or customs processing fees.
