Gorgeous Godet Top – Printed Pattern | Style Falcon

$18.00 USD

Twirl through life in this striking knit top. Slight gathering at the side seams provide shaping for the bust. Godets at the hem bring drape and drama.

Create View A - a sleeveless layering piece with a classic banded neckline. Ideal for layering or hot-weather dressing. Or make a statement with View B - an elegant cowl and long sleeves to keep you cozy in fall and winter.

The Gorgeous Godet Top works best with lightweight knits with four-way stretch. Jersey, ITY and other light stretch knits are ideal. Wider fabric is recommended, as this top has some large pieces.

“With nap” layouts are provided for directional prints or luxe fabrics, such as stretch velvet.

This pattern is not suitable for striped fabrics for the bodice - but try a contrasting godet in horizontal or vertical stripes to add dimension. Contrasting godets take about a yard of fabric.

This pattern comes with a free step-by-step video tutorial on the Style Falcon YouTube channel. All measurements and instructions are provided in Imperial and metric units.

The pattern package includes all 11 sizes of the pattern, printed in black ink on one folded sheet of sturdy paper, not tissue. The package also includes a black-and-white stapled paper instruction booklet and a full-color paper quick start guide with fashion illustrations, technical drawings, size charts and a list of materials to sew the pattern. The size charts list body measurements and finished pattern measurements. The quick start guide also provides a description of the pattern and an explanation of Style Falcon's cut and fit.

Designed by Style Falcon, an independent American pattern company founded by home sewist Diane Scarponi in New Haven, Connecticut. Every Style Falcon pattern is drafted for a mature figure: little bust-to-waist definition, lower bust points and a C cup (the average for women 55 and over in the US), more room at the tummy, hip and bicep, and a center-back seam with rounded-back and forward-shoulder shaping. Pattern lines and markings are bold and easy to read, and ⅝ in (1.5 cm) seam allowances and hems are included.

📏 Sizing

11 sizes, A–K, all included in the envelope

🪡 Fabric

Lightweight knits with four-way stretch, such as jersey and ITY. Knits usually come 52–68 in (132–173 cm) wide; wider fabric is recommended because some pieces are large. Not suitable for striped fabric in the bodice. Contrast godets take about 1 yd (1 m) in all sizes.
Without nap:
View A (sleeveless): sizes A–F 2¼ yd of 54" or 1½ yd of 68" wide fabric (2 m of 132 cm or 1.3 m of 173 cm); sizes G–K 2½ yd or 1¾ yd (2.2 m or 1.6 m).
View B (cowl, long sleeves): sizes A–F 3¼ yd of 54" or 2¼ yd of 68" (2.8 m or 2.2 m); sizes G–K 3¾ yd or 2½ yd (3.3 m or 2.3 m).
With nap (directional prints, stretch velvet):
View A: sizes A–F 2¼ yd of 54" or 2 yd of 68" (2.1 m of 132 cm or 1.8 m of 173 cm); sizes G–K 2¾ yd or 2¼ yd (2.5 m or 2.1 m).
View B: sizes A–F 3½ yd of 54" or 2½ yd of 68" (3.2 m or 2.5 m); sizes G–K 4 yd or 2¾ yd (3.6 m or 2.5 m).

🔘 Notions

Matching thread; about 7 in (18 cm) of narrow elastic, twill tape or similar to stabilize the shoulders.
View B: about 1 yd (1 m) of fusible stabilizer or stay tape for the cowl.
