Designed by independent French studio My Dress Made, Himaya is paisley done properly — dense, intricate teardrops in ochre, warm brown and cream scrolling across a deep navy ground, with flashes of fuchsia doing the work that a metallic thread would do in a lesser print. It is a genuinely autumnal palette, rich without being heavy.

The print is carried on a viscose twill, and the twill construction is what makes the difference: the diagonal weave gives the cloth a soft, supple hand and a fluid drape that falls rather than floats. At 120 g/m² it moves with the body and gathers cleanly, which is why it photographs so well as a full-sleeved blouse or a long V-neck dress.

This is a Limited Edition design — produced in a single small run and never reprinted once sold out. When this fabric is gone, it is gone for good.

🪡 Sewing Tips

Pre-wash before cutting — viscose moves on the first wash. Use a fine universal or microtex needle (70/10–80/12) with a shorter stitch length, and cut single-layer with pattern weights; twill-woven viscose is fluid and will travel under the shears. The paisley is dense and reads as non-directional, so you can lay pieces either way and save yardage — but it is busy enough to swallow fine detail, so save your topstitching and pintucks for a quieter fabric and let the print carry the garment.

Is there any cashmere in this fabric?

No — it is 100% viscose. The confusion is a translation one: in French, cachemire names the paisley motif, not the fibre, so this fabric is sometimes listed as "viscose-cashmere". What you are buying is a viscose twill printed with a paisley design.

What can I sew with this fabric?

Flowing blouses, shirts, midi and maxi dresses, gathered skirts and wide-leg trousers. The drape suits volume — full sleeves, gathered waists and anything that needs to move.

How much fabric do I need?

Fabric is sold by the half yard, cut in one continuous piece. A fitted top typically takes 2–3 half-yard units, a blouse or shirt 3–4, a skirt 3–4, and a midi dress 5–6 — order 4 units for 2 continuous yards.

Will it shrink?

Yes — expect some. Viscose typically moves around 5% on the first wash, enough to change a fit noticeably. My Dress Made don't publish a figure for this fabric specifically, so pre-wash before cutting and wash it the way you intend to wash the finished garment.

Is it see-through?

No — this viscose twill is opaque; unlined garments are fine.

What needle and thread should I use?

A fine universal or microtex needle (70/10–80/12) with all-purpose polyester thread and a slightly shorter stitch length; test on a scrap first.

Is it really limited edition?

Yes — My Dress Made produces each design in a single small run and never reprints it. When our fabric sells out, this print is gone for good. We stock it here in the US, so there are no import shipping, tariff, or customs processing fees.
