Make a Point Dress – Printed Pattern | Style Falcon
A modern shirt dress or big shirt with loads of details and drama. Angled princess seams create a sharp look and conceal perfect pockets. Fullness through the sides show off the sweep of your silhouette. Style lines celebrate the unexpected.
Sewers can create a short-sleeved big shirt to style with leggings or straight-leg pants, such as the Secret Jeans Trousers or Diamond Hem Trousers. Or they can challenge themselves with a designer-quality dress, complete with long sleeves, plackets and cuffs. Both versions offer creative options for color-blocking and pattern play.
Drapey woven fabrics work best for the Make a Point Dress, such as challis, crepe or georgette in rayon, silk, cotton, linen or wool. Lawn, shirtings or light suitings with drape also are great choices. Wider fabric is recommended.
The pattern package includes all 11 sizes of the pattern, printed in black ink on one folded sheet of sturdy paper, not tissue. The package also includes a black-and-white stapled paper instruction booklet and a full-color paper quick start guide with fashion illustrations, technical drawings, size charts and a list of materials to sew the pattern. The size charts list body measurements and finished pattern measurements. The quick start guide also provides a description of the pattern and an explanation of Style Falcon's cut and fit. All measurements and instructions are provided in Imperial and metric units.
Designed by Style Falcon, an independent American pattern company founded by home sewist Diane Scarponi in New Haven, Connecticut. Every Style Falcon pattern is drafted for a mature figure: little bust-to-waist definition, lower bust points and a C cup (the average for women 55 and over in the US), more room at the tummy, hip and bicep, and a center-back seam with rounded-back and forward-shoulder shaping. Pattern lines and markings are bold and easy to read, and ⅝ in (1.5 cm) seam allowances and hems are included.
