Heavy Jersey Fabric – Jane Print Limited Edition | Atelier 27
✈️ Pre-order — expected 6 November. This fabric is on its way to us. Order now to reserve your yardage; we cut and ship pre-orders in the order they were placed, as soon as it lands.
Designed by independent studio Atelier 27, the Jane print is a densely packed antique rose garden — blush and dusty pink roses, powder-blue blooms, cream and gold flowers with sage foliage, worked edge to edge across a deep chocolate-brown base. It has the feel of a vintage chintz, and the dark base keeps it grown-up rather than sweet.
Printing this on a heavy jersey is what makes it interesting. At 230 g/m² with 10% elastane, the cloth has genuine body and recovery — it holds a neckline, doesn't cling, and won't go transparent over the seat of a fitted skirt. The organic cotton content keeps it soft and breathable against the skin rather than slick.
This is a Limited Edition design — produced in a single small run and never reprinted once sold out. When this fabric is gone, it is gone for good.

🪡 Sewing Tips
Pre-wash before cutting — this is a cotton knit and it will move on the first wash. Use a ballpoint or jersey needle (80/12–90/14); a sharp needle will cut the loops and cause laddering. Sew seams with a narrow zigzag, a stretch stitch or an overlocker so the seam can move with the fabric, and stabilise shoulder seams and the back neck with clear elastic or stay tape to stop them growing. Twin-needle the hems. The print is dense and non-directional, so you can lay pieces either way and save yardage.
🧺 Care Instructions
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Line dry, or tumble dry low. Always pre-wash before cutting.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
When will my order ship?
This is a pre-order. The fabric is expected to reach us by 6 November, and we cut and ship pre-orders in the order they were placed as soon as it arrives. If you order other items at the same time, the whole order ships together once the fabric is here — place a separate order if you need the rest sooner.
What can I sew with this fabric?
T-shirts, mock-neck and long-sleeve tops, bodysuits, jersey dresses, cardigans and comfortable shorts. At 230 g/m² this is a substantial jersey — heavy enough for a dress that hangs properly, not a drapey slip.
How much fabric do I need?
Fabric is sold by the half yard, cut in one continuous piece. A t-shirt typically takes 3–4 half-yard units, a long-sleeve top 4, a bodysuit 3, and a jersey dress 5–6 — order 4 units for 2 continuous yards. The 149 cm width is generous, so you may need less than a pattern's yardage chart suggests.
Will it shrink?
Yes — expect some. At 90% cotton this behaves like any cotton knit: the fibre shrinks and the knit structure settles on the first wash, and the two together are enough to change a fit. Atelier 27 don't publish a percentage, so pre-wash before cutting and wash it the way you intend to wash the finished garment.
Is it see-through?
No — at 230 g/m² this is an opaque jersey; it won't go sheer over a fitted seat or bust, and unlined garments are fine.
What needle and thread should I use?
A ballpoint or jersey needle (80/12–90/14) with all-purpose polyester thread, and a stretch stitch, narrow zigzag or overlocker for the seams. Test on a scrap first.
Is it really limited edition?
Yes — Atelier 27 prints each design in a single small run and never reprints it. When our fabric sells out, this print is gone for good. We stock it here in the US, so there are no import shipping, tariff, or customs processing fees.
